By annexing Crimea, Russia has carried out an act of aggression against Ukraine. Currently Russia is transferring terrorist and sabotage groups to Eastern Ukraine. Russia aims to prevent legitimate presidential elections from happening. Everyday life in Eastern Ukraine has turned into a continuous nightmare in the middle of Europe. Our country is being destroyed right before our eyes. We therefore take the courage to inform you about current events in Ukraine. This is just another point of view. We will do our best to remain objective.

June1 – Construction of the gas pipeline "South Stream" will depend on Russia returning to proper legal environment, statedEuropean Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger in his interview to Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagzeitung. With Crimea, Russia also annexed the shelf, where gas is extracted from and where the pipeline "South Stream" was planned to have been built to transport the gas from Russia to Southern Europe.

Europe is seeing a East-West clash of values

By any measure, it was a landmark, landslide victory – for Europe. On May 25, Petro Poroshenko declared victory in the first round of the Ukrainian presidential election. He had won more than 55 percent of the vote – and Ukrainians knew exactly what they were getting. Poroshenko campaigned on integrating his country into European institutions. After his victory, he repeated that goal. Ukraine is on the brink of financial catastrophe and is fighting a de facto invasion: Well-armed Chechen soldiers have now arrived to assist the Russian-made insurgency in the east. Yet in his victory speech, Poroshenko declared he wanted not only to "put an end to war, to put an end to chaos," but also to "bring in European values" to his country.

Twenty-five years ago, on June 4, 1989, another election, this one in Poland, also turned out to be a landmark, landslide victory for Europe. Although some of the vote was rigged, every openly contested parliamentary seat was won by a candidate from the democratic opposition. The Communist Party's last pretense at legitimacy crumbled; Poland's first non-communist government since World War II came to power.

Also facing financial catastrophe – though fortunately not invasion – Poles then were motivated by the same things as Ukrainians are now. In 1989, if you asked anyone in Warsaw what kind of a country they wanted, the answer was always the same: "normal." And "normal" meant Europe. Poles wanted European democracy, European capitalism and, eventually, European prosperity. They did not seek alternate models or try to create a "third way" between East and West. They did not want to become Ukraine, floating abstractly in post-Soviet geopolitical space. They wanted to look like Britain, France or Germany.

A quarter-century later, they almost do. Neither Poland nor any of the other post-communist nations are remotely as wealthy as their western neighbors – it may take many more decades to eradicate a generation's worth of communist misrule – but they have comparable political systems, similar economies, identical border guarantees. By any measure, all of them are more prosperous now than they were in 1989.

Ukraine wants in. Poland is relieved to be there. And as for the nations formerly known as Western Europe? Quite a few of them want out of Europe altogether.

Indeed, on the same day that Ukrainians voted for "European values" – and almost exactly a quarter-century after the Poles voted for "European values" – another landmark, landslide election propelled an unusually virulent group of anti-Europeans into prominence. Millions of French citizens voted the National Front, an anti-European party with anti-Semitic roots, to the top of France's European parliamentary election list. A few days earlier, millions of British voters opted for the U.K. Independence Party (UKIP), another anti-European organization composed of a charismatic leader, Nigel Farage, and a strange coalition of cranks, cheats and open racists. Dutch, Danish, Italian, Austrian and Hungarian voters sent similarly inclined candidates to the European Parliament, so much so that they may be able to form a full-fledged far-right voting bloc.

Not only do the leaders of these two parties reject "European values," they also have gone out of their way to declare their solidarity with a man who symbolizes everything that Poles and Ukrainians have been trying to escape. During a trip to Moscow, Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Front, declared her admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin's "patriotism." UKIP's Farage has also named Putin as the world leader he "most admires."Le Pen and Farage aren't alone in admiring the Russian "model" – corruption, media manipulation, disregard for borders and the rule of law, all included. What Ukraine is desperate to escape, in other words, Europe's far right is now desperate to become.

Many explanations have been proffered. Yes, the French and the British were protesting their ineffective establishment parties. Yes, the European Parliament itself, with its halfhearted mandate and wasteful spending, isn't an institution people care about. Yes, the European elections have often been a vehicle for flaky protest votes. And of course it's true that the European Union itself has made terrible decisions in recent years, including the creation of a currency union that devastated the economies of several of its members.

But there may be a deeper explanation as well. Those who don't have democracy, stability or "European values" want them desperately. And those who have them don't appreciate them – and perhaps cannot. John Adams once wrote that "there never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide," and we could be closer to watching this happen than we usually think. Some Europeans are already reaching for the arsenic. The question now is whether the rest can prevent them from swallowing a lethal dose.

La Russie a commis un acte d'agression contre l'Ukraine et a annexé la Crimée. Depuis quelques semaines, la Russie met en place des groupes terroristes et des saboteurs dans les régions orientales de l'Ukraine. Son but – perturber les élections présidentielles légitimes. Actuellement la vie des habitants dans ces regions situées en plein milieu de l'Europe s'est transformée en un cauchemar continuel. On est en train de détruire notre pays devant nos propres yeux. Par conséquent, nous prenons notre courage à deux mains pour continuer à vous tenir aux courant des événements en Ukraine. C'est un point de vue parmi d'autres. Nous essayerons de rester objectifs.

Le 1 juin – "La construction du gazoduc "South Stream" dépendra du retour de la Russie dans le cadre légal." annonce Günther Oettinger, le Commissaire européen en charge de l'énergie dans une interview avec le journal Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagzeitung. La Russie a annexé la Crimée et le plateau continental où sont exploités les gisements de gaz et par où le gazoduc "South Stream" devrait passer pour relier la Russie à l'Europe du Sud.

Le 1 juin – Le bataillon "Vostok" – une formation armée terroriste au service de la "République populaire de Donetsk" – est constitué de citoyens de la Fédération de Russie – des ossètes du sud, des tchétchènes et des abkhazes qui ont combattu du côté russe en 2008 contre la Géorgie, ainsi que d'anciens membres ukrainiens de l'Alpha et du Berkut qui ont trahi l'Ukraine lors de l'annexion de la Crimée par la Russie.

Manifestation contre la vente de navires de guerre "Mistral" à la Russie

Une cinquantaine de personnes se sont rassemblées à Saint-Nazaire dimanche devant le "Vladivostok", un navire de type Mistral dont la construction vient de s'achever dans les chantiers STX, pour protester contre cette vente controversée au moment où en Ukraineles séparatistes pro-russes s'opposent violemment au gouvernement de Kiev, a constaté une correspondante de l'AFP.

Les manifestants ont arboré des drapeaux ukrainiens et chanté l'hymne ukrainien devant la proue du navire à quai à Saint-Nazaire en scandant "non aux Mistral de Poutine".

Selon les organisateurs, la manifestation est composée de citoyens "affiliés à aucune organisation". D'autres manifestations de même type doivent se tenir à Londres, Kiev, Austin (Texas), Dublin ou encore Francfort, le tout dans le cadre d'une "Journée mondiale anti-Mistral".

Selon Bernard Grua, l'un des organisateurs, "Saint-Nazaire n'a pas été choisi au hasard. C'était pour montrer aux gens qu'on est pas dans du virtuel. Ces bâtiments existent. (...) ".

Pour lui, les Mistral sont des "bâtiments d'invasion. Des bâtiments militaires destinés à la Russie".

"Pour Poutine, le premier objectif est de garder le contrôle sur la Crimée. C'est (Le Mistral, ndlr) l'outil idéal pour complètement figer cette annexion qui n'a été reconnue par aucun pays", a ajouté M. Grua avant de conclure: "Il n'est pas concevable aujourd'hui que la France livre ces bâtiments à la Russie".

Selon Maria, une manifestante ukrainienne résidant en France, très critique vis-à-vis du président russe Vladimir Poutine, "on ne peut plus vivre dans la politique du 20e siècle, on ne plus revivre la période de l'impérialisme, le monde évolue. Maintenant, les gens ont le droit de choisir leur propre destin. Il n'y a plus de tszar, plus de petit frères et de grand frères. Qu'ils (les Russes) nous foutent la paix, il faut dire non!".

Une autre manifestante ukrainienne, Natalia, assure: "avec cette arme (le Mistral, ndlr), Poutine devient plus fort. Il est capable d'aller beaucouop plus loin, il y a d'autres pays en Europe, les pays baltes, la Moldavie..."

En 2011, la France a signé avec Moscou la vente de deux navires de projection et de commandement (BPC) de type Mistral, pour plus d'un milliard d'euros.

La livraison du "Vladivostok" est prévue fin 2014 et celle de son sistership le "Sebastopol", du nom de la ville de Crimée au coeur de la crise ukrainienne, fin 2016.

Trois premiers BPC, navires de 199 mètres et 22.000 tonnes pouvant se déplacer à une vitesse supérieure à 18 noeuds, le Mistral, le Tonnerre et le Dixmude, ont été livrés à la marine française entre 2006 et 2009.

Cel jej działań- zapobiec legalnym wyborom prezydenckim na Ukrainie. Dlatego dziś życie mieszkańców Wschodniej Ukrainy pozostaje ciągłym horrendum w środku Europy. Na naszych oczach niszczą nasz kraj. Dlatego bierzemy na siebie odwagę informować państwa o wydarzeniach na Ukrainie. To jest jeszcze jeden punkt widzenia. My postaramy się być uczciwymi.

Il suo fine è quello di vietare che le elezioni presidenziali legittime abbiano luogo. In questo modo la vita in Ucraina orientale si è trasformata in un incubo nel cuore dell'Europa. Davanti ai nostri occhi viene distrutto il nostro Paese. Per questo, ci prendiamo la responsabilità di informarvi riguardo agli eventi in Ucraina. Si tratta di un altro punto di vista. 1 червня – Батальйон "Восток" – збройне формування на службі терористичної Донецької народної республіки – складається з громадян Росії – осетинів, чеченці, абхазців, які воювали 2008 року на боці Росії у Грузії, а також колишніх співробітників української "Альфи", "Беркута", які зрадили Україну ще під час анексії Криму.
