a ''referendum'' on the status of
the region began in Donbas
region. The “referendum” was organized by armed
separatists. The ballot featured one question: “Do you support
the act of
state independence of the “People's
Republic of Donetsk''” (the republic has been
proclaimed by the separatists). "Referendum" is being held at
gunpoint. Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of Ukraine has stated that
the “referendum” and provocations were instigated by terrorist groups
that are well-trained and equipped
to current Russian standards. US State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, said the
United States would not recognize
the results of the vote
on the independence
of “People's Republic of Donetsk''
held in Donbas
on Sunday. The leader of
separatists Roman Lyagin (responsible for counting the
votes) has said that so
called referendum will only provide
answers to the issue of
future self-determination of the region.
According to Lyagin, issues concerning the future the oblast
– whether to remain a part of
Ukraine or join Russia – will
be resolved later. May

the antiterrorist operation (ATO) has begun in Donbas

agencies are active not only

other towns of the region,
which are “hosting” pro-Russian terrorists. Roadblocks (checkpoints) were destroyed in Sloviansk, Kramatorsk
and Krasnyi Lyman (Donetsk oblast) on Sunday. May

and three of his employees
(all female) were abducted on
Sunday night by the terrorists.

torture. Maidan
Community Sector, Lviv: Dear friends! By
annexing Crimea, Russia has carried
out an act
of aggression against Ukraine. Currently Russia is transferring terrorist and sabotage
groups to Eastern Ukraine. Russia aims to
prevent legitimate presidential elections from happening. Everyday life in
Eastern Ukraine has turned into
a continuous nightmare in the middle
of Europe. Our country is
being destroyed right before our
eyes. We therefore take the courage to
inform you about current events
in Ukraine. This is just
another point of view. We
will do our
best to remain
objective. P.S.: Please spread this
appeal as much as possible.
