Threats To The Lviv Architectural Ensemble

The condition of buildings and architectural monuments of Lviv historical centre becomes worse from year to year. Due to the permanent lack of money in city budget for current and capital repair the architectural decorations, facades and whole buildings are falling down in the centre of the city.

Taking into consideration the bad condition of the architectural monuments proposed for sale the potential investors are not in hurry to buy and restore them. At the same time due to broken old canalization system and changes of the underground water courses, the great cavities are forming on the streets and under the building fundaments, causing a danger of large scale ruining. Although Lviv entered the list of World Historical Heritage of UNESCO, this event had no significant influence on the common way of things.
